The Micros Episode 2

First Place Finish

Finally took down a decent tournament on Stars. I was really surprised at how much of a push fest this was. I would like to find some smaller buy in tourneys that play like deepstacks but I have not yet. Anyway, $600 for $12 is a pretty good ROI.

The Schedule is out.....

Here it is: 2011 WSOP Schedule

Early line puts the odds on me playing event #6 on June 3rd. I'm currently in 2nd place in my Poker Club that sends 10 people to Vegas each year. #1 gets the 10K buyin. 9 people get $1500. Truthfully, it is easiest on my work schedule to not play the main event. But I think I could work it out if I qualified. I mean really. How many times do you get the chance to play the Main Event -for FREE?

WBCOOP 2011

Thought I would give this tournament a shot tonight. Registered at work, hurried home and settled in with the family for dinner (and my laptop tuned to Pokerstars). Nothing major during the first hour until the first break. Down to 600 or so from the original 720.

This was the first fun hand I had. I reraised, got a call, then flopped a set. I couldn't elicit a bluff or a call though so made only a little money.

Then I hit this hand. He raised my BB, so I shoved. Crossing fingers...... and whew!
Then I had the same thought process on this hand. Raise from the button must be a really wide range, so I shove to put him all in. OOPS. He spikes his Ace and I'm down to 5 BB's.

OK, One more time. Same theory. Button shoves and I decide to call and hope to get lucky. I had nothing left anyway after the blinds go by. Out 202'nd where 153 pay. Oh well. Maybe I'll try the Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tomorrow night...

Bubble question results

See post from yesterday where I had AQ in the SB on the bubble.

I play tournaments to win. I don't think I could be very profitable if I were to play to min cash every tournament. Of course, if I were in a $10,000 tournament, I might fold and then hope to at least get my buy in back, but that is because 10K is way above my bankroll.

But we are talking about a $9.90 tournament and the only result worth talking about will be a win. I won't be posting a blog about my big "min cash". Weeeeeeee

So I do shove my AQ, hoping the BB folds as does the original raiser and I add a few chips to make it to the money. If I get a call from the Button, I know their range is much much wider than mine, so there is a great chance my AQ is way ahead. I didn't plug it into pokerstove, but I'm sure my equity is huge.

As reverse luck would have it, the BB shoves and the Button folds. BB has AKsooted. I spike a Queen on the flop, but he gets 2 cards to his flush, and the river completes his flush to take me out: Bubble Boy.

Oh well. I don't ever fold there. I just can't.

What would you do bubble question.

I played in a 124 person $9.90 buy in tournament on stars last night that paid the top 18 spots. 18th was $13.xx. I needed 9th or better to get to $18.xx. First place was over $300.

So here is my situation and you tell me what you would do:

I am in 16th of 19 players remaining with about $5500 in chips. The blinds are $200/$400/$50. All tables are playing hand for hand.

I am in the SB (or LB as OhCaptain calls it <--did I miss a change in terms?).
The button has $12,000
The BB has $7500

The button has been raising quite a bit and folding to shoves. He raises to $950 (his standard raise).

I have AQoff.

What would you do?

Rakeback

So, I'm still debating back and forth about Rakeback. I don't get it at fulltiltpoker but I prefer playing there over pokerstars. I actually started playing online poker on pokerstars back in 2004, but eventually moved over to fulltiltpoker because of the poker bloggers (see my list to the right) and their regular tournaments. So now when I play on pokerstars, the sounds of the chips, and timers, and everything else take me back to my beginning days playing online. I'm thinking I may start playing exclusively at pokerstars.

And of course, there is the rakeback issue. I don't get it at fulltiltpoker. I've asked for it several times, and have been denied. I even opened another account name to get it, but fulltiltpoker support found out and shut down my new account. Luckily they gave me back the $1500 I had in funds with them. With the heavy promoting of VPP's on pokerstars, I've been thinking of moving exclusively to stars. I think the time is now.

I know this player told me he moved to stars. But I haven't seen a post from him in some time so I'm not really sure how it's going.

Anyway, if you have any advice either way, I'd be open to it. I just want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck. I haven't had a big withdrawal from online poker in over a year, but I've also played a lot less over the last year. I'm ready to start playing more again and need to find a place worthy of doing it.

Let me know if you have any opinions for me. Thanks,

Jamyhawk

Best games in the Casino

Looking for the best Online Casino in Canada? I play them all. I like craps, I like blackjack, and I like roulette. But the casino game I love the best is video poker. I have rarely left a casino without a profit when I am playing video poker. Actually, in video poker you can choose several options, and I tend to love the deuces wild.

The best way to play is online. The best place to find a casino is in Canada.
