Paris Hotel in Vegas

Anyone have any connections to the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas? I'm looking for two "comp" tickets to the Cheap Trick Sgt Peppers concert on June 26th.

I'll be in town for tournaments but want to see this performance if at all possible.

Thanks in advance if anyone tries to get them for me. I can swap some FT or PS funds in exchange for them.

Tornado in Missouri

Last night a tornado touched down right by my parents house. My dad said he heard the sirens and looked outside and saw a ton of debris spinning in the air over the treetops. It only affected about 250yards square. It was really weird to see the next day, since there was no damage all around this area, and then suddenly you see tons of really big trees down.

Most importantly, no one was hurt. My parents house had two spot where the trees went through the roof like spears, but they didn't penetrate past the attic. The neighbor was not so fortunate since they had a tree completely take out their bedroom roof and was left hanging 3 feet above the bed.

My mother described it as the scariest moment in her life. Here are some pics (all of these were taken from my parents 1/8 of an acre lot):

I'm in!

BBT 5 is here! Start tonight in the MOOKIE

Lazy me. Copied directly from Al Can't Hang:

Many years ago, long before I gave my life to my Full Tilt overlords, a few bloggers were hosting private tournaments on the site throughout the week. "Discussions" amongst the hosts as to whose players were better were not uncommon. We eventually came up with a half-hearted effort to rank the various players and Full Tilt backed us up with some added money to make it interesting. That was the birth of the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments challenge. Just a few years later, the BBT has turned into a monster, now offering bloggers and their readers a shot at over $50,000 in cash and WSOP seats courtesy of Full Tilt.

This weekend we begin the 5th incarnation of the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments challenge. There are several opportunities for bloggers and their readers to win their way into the BBT5 Tournament of Champions, which boasts several WSOP packages. Unlike previous BBT challenges which stretched the sanity, bankroll, and relationship status of our players, this challenge will be easy to play. BBT5 will run for the next six weeks with two blogger-hosted tournaments during the week as well as an invitational tournament series taking place each Sunday featuring some of your favorite bloggers on topics ranging from poker to finance to philosophy.

The Battle of the Blogger 5 Tournament of Champions: May 27

The BBT5 will last six weeks, culminating in a Tournaments of Champions scheduled for Thursday, May 27th. The prizepool for the ToC is impressive: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers will each receive a $10,000 entry into the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event as well as room accommodations at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino. 4th and 5th place finishers will receive a $2,000 Bracelet Race package good for many of the preliminary 2010 WSOP events.

To qualify for the Battle of the Blogger 5 Tournament of Champions, you need to be a top player in one of the following tournaments:

Poker from the Rail Series: Mondays at 22:00ET

On April 19th we are introducing our new Poker From the Rail tournament series and everyone is welcome to join us for this deepstack NLHE event with a buyin of $24+2 (or token) starting at 22:00ET. In addition to first place money from the prizepool, the winner will earn an entry into the BBT Tournament of Champions. The Poker From the Rail tournament will run each Monday from April 19th through May 24th.

The Mookie: Wednesdays at 22:00ET

The Mookie tournament is one of the longest running blogger-hosted events on Full Tilt. It's been running so long, in fact, that the original blogger-host has retired and the tournament is now being hosted by the folks at Buddy Dank Radio who have been running a fine game. This tournament, also a deepstack NLHE format, runs each Wednesday at 22:00ET with a $10+1 buyin. Every Mookie winner between April 21st and May 26th will also earn an entry into the BBT Tournament of Champions.

The Invitational: Sundays at 19:00ET

The last ToC qualifying event is the Sunday evening Invitational, 6 events fielded by many of your favorite poker bloggers, players, and media personalities. Full Tilt has invited a lot of old school poker bloggers to battle the younger generation, the mainstream media, and a few surprise celebrities. It's a great chance to rail the writers you've been reading for years while they play for one of the two ToC entries up for grabs in each tournament.

Blogger Battle Royale: Sunday June 6th

After the ToC is one final event: the Blogger Battle Royale, a freeroll thank you to all the participating bloggers. The stakes: a $2,000 WSOP Bracelet Race package and another $2,000 in cash. The Battle Royale is open to any blogger who actively participates in the BBT. Qualifying is simple: put the BBT badge (available at the soon to be created BBT webpage) on your blog and play in a Mookie or Poker from the Rail tournament and you’re in. (Please note: your blog must have been created prior to April 15 to be eligible.)

In order to fulfill the egalitarian promise of the Battle Royale, we’ll also accept good-faith gestures from bloggers who would like to play in the Battle Royale but cannot, for whatever reason, meet the above qualifications. Email my colleague Dave McCarthy at DaveFromTheRail@gmail.com and he’ll take care of your Battle Royale entry in exchange for a little assistance promoting your fellow bloggers.

During each of these tournaments, tune in to Buddy Dank Radio who will be broadcasting during the entire challenge. There will be special guests during each tournament and I will certainly make an appearance on a regular basis, including this Sunday during the first event. It is a great way to enjoy the blogger tournament experience and, who knows -- you might hear something entertaining.

Below you will find details on all the events as well as the BBT5 banners

WSOP Circuit event Saint Louis

So here we are with the biggest poker event in Saint Louis History and I'm not playing. The first weekend it was here, was Easter and the next weekend was my son's birthday, so we were booked on the weekends. Normally, I could take off work, but I just got promoted to a newly created position, so I've been swamped trying to set up everything at work.

Bleh.

Now to the real story: My poker club sent someone (Jordan Portel) to the main event ($5190 buy in) and he made the final table. I know of 4 people from our poker club that played in events. Of the 12 events, we have had people at 3 of the final tables (Tom Grasso, Bill Emerson and Jordan). Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

You may remember that last year, one of the guys from my poker club (Mike Eise) won event #28. I got a check for $12,000 from that. Now, if Jordan Portel can win this event today, I will get just shy of $3,000.

Gooooooooooooooooo JORDAN! Check this website for updates. Here are the chip counts going in:

FINAL TABLE
Seat Name City State Chip Count
1 Matt Schwarmann Orlando FL 409,000
2 Joel Casper Chicago IL 193,500
3 Gregory Headrick St. Louis MO 111,000
4 Gary Bolden St. Louis MO 66,500
5 Jeff Roper St. Louis MO 592,200
6 Jordan Portell St. Louis MO 116,000
7 Gary Lambert Quincy IL 188,500
8 Michael Softino Omaha NE 70,000
9 Jason Mo St. Louis MO 184,000

And here are the payouts:
Place Prize
1 $180,814
2 $122,502
3 $81,710
4 $58,373
5 $46,673
6 $35,036
7 $23,337
8 $18,957
9 $16,017

If your looking for me after 1pm today, I'll be at Harrah's Saint Louis on the Rail!

Go Jordan.

The HAWK wins The HAWK

I guess it took the smallest field ever for me to finally win my own tournament. Nice thing was that I collected every bounty also. $11 buy in and I won $28. WEEEEEEEEEEEE.

What? Is the circleK walk in freezer too chilly for the girls working there?

BLOGGER BLITZ / SUPER TURBO STORM TONIGHT!!!

Tonight at 10:15pm EST , HighOnPoker and I are going to storm a 45-person super turbo SNG on FullTilt and you are all invited.

Here is the plan: All participants will wait until the FullTilt clock (in the FullTilt lobby) reaches 10:15pm EST. Once that time is reached, we will all wait for the next new 45-person SNG to open up at the $3 stakes. It’s $3.50+.30. There will only be one 45-person table open at a time for the $3.80 stakes.

At 10:15, we will not enter the 45-person SNG. Rather, we will wait for the current one to completely fill up before a new one is opened. Then we will all join the new 45-person SNG.

Why are we doing it this way? Because at 10:15, for all we know the current 45-person SNG may have 42 people in it. Rather than all crowd into what few slots may be left in the open tourney, its better to wait for a new one to start.

At the $3.80 level, the tourneys fill up quickly. Let me alert everyone that there is a gambling element to registration and if you are too slow, we can’t do anything for you. That said, if there are prop bets arranged, anyone who fails to get into the fist 45-person SNG that opens after 10:15 will automatically have their prop-bets canceled.

Each player can choose whether or not to participate in side action prop bets. So, if you just want to donk around with some bloggers, then come join us. If you want more action than a $3 tournament can afford, then you are in the right place.

Suggested Prop Bets:
1. Last Longer – Its a simple last longer prop bet between any and all participating bloggers. $10. Post Comment if you are interested.

2. Worst Way to Be Booted – Simply the worst bad beat that results in being booted from the tournament. $5. To qualify, you have to take a screenshot or hand history. We (Jordan and me) will determine the worst bad beat based on percentages at the time when all the money is in the middle.

If you are interested in participating in the storming of the 45-person super turbo SNG (with or without prop bets) tonight at 10:15pm, leave a comment.

If you are interested in any of the aforementioned prop bets or would like to suggest (or challenge me in) another prop bet, simply leave it in the comments.

Please visit Jordan or leave me a comment... Stay Patient....

Trying my luck at a bigger tournament

I usually don't buy in for more than $15, but thought I would take a shot at a bigger tournament last night. I like the structure on the Turbo Fiddy as it seems to be a 3-4hour tournament (perfect time length for me). With 71 players left, I get into 1st place. Wish I could keep it up....

Finishing 10th was good, but man was I close. With 18 players left, it turned into a pushfest. That was not fun, but at least the tournament didn't last forever. Always sucks to get so close but not make it. I always feel if I can get to the final table, I have a legit chance to win it. Thanks to Shabazz for railing me. He saw me knock out a pro (he was in the same tournament) and popped onto my table chat for awhile.Getting a pro bounty was great too, because it added $50 to my prize money ($231).
