Iphone. You got one yet? It is amazing. I can't say enough about how much I love it. Webpages at my fingertips. Googlereader, weather, sports updates, the ability to blog: all in my pocket everywhere I go. What's that? YOU have the internet on your phone too? Well not like the Iphone. I can open word docs, pdf's, excel, it goes on and on. Blowberry phones got nothin' on the Iphone. Oh yeah! And then there is my renewed love affair with Triumph, Rush, Shooting Star, and all my other favorite bands from when I was in high school. I can actually buy 1 song at a time. Amazing technology. . . Now if only I could download FTP onto my Iphone....
That's what I got to say today.... Sucked it up in poker last night, but I got it in good, so that's all that matters, right? We will be trying again tonight. Congrats to Skidoo for taking down the MATH last night.
Stay patient...

Oh what a night
I ran goot tonight. Some nights are like that. Some are the opposite.
I played in the MATH and finished 8th of 75, which was just into the money. 26$ buy in and $63 payout. Not great, but a cash is a cash. Congratulations to corron10 on getting a seat to the TOC!

I also finished first in the 9:45pm Token Frenzy on FTP so I have my buy in for next Monday's MATH already set.
Then while railing Alan at the final table, I played a $5 6player SNG and took 1st place.
I was in the zone with all 3 playing very well when I needed to.
Bloggers had a great weekend cashing in big tourneys. Check out Bayne and QOD about big cashes this weekend.
See you Wednesday in the MOOKIE.
Stay patient......

It's the same 'ol story, same 'ol song and dance, my friend
Played in the MATH last night. This was my first blogger tournament since 2007. Wow! 2 1/2 months I took off. I take that back. I think I did play in one bodonkament of Smokkee's.
Anyway. I played very well, I thought. I did suck out at least once and I won my coin flips -which is critical to going deep in any of these blogger tournaments. I was reading when the table was tight and when it was loose and playing back at it accordingly. I even laid down AQ with a Q high flop that turned a J to a big raise from GCOX. Maybe I gave him too much credit, but he said he had trip Jacks (as I assumed he did). Some well timed aggression along with some luck and I managed to grab the chip lead with around 24 players left (of the original 70something). I had been playing aggressive and won a couple of coin flips when the next hand came and kicked the wind out of me.
Tripjax was sitting to my immediate right and had come to my table the chip leader. I don't remember exactly how, but he had lost about 3/4 of his stack (a good chunk to me). I was sitting around 20K in chips and he was around 12K. I had just won a coin flip and had been buying blinds aggressively. He raised my blind and I came over the top of him with QQ. Now, I didn't shove but I bet enough to make him uncomfortable to call with a bluff. Conversely, I bet little enough to look like I just might be on a re-steal. I wanted his call. He came over me all in.
Now I'm thinking for a second here. Did I just walk into AA or KK? I don't think so. Trip is the kind of player that does not like to be pushed around. Especially by someone trying to bully the table and someone who stung him for a nice sized pot earlier. I put him on A10, AJ, maybe even KQ. And I know if I call him here, it is another coin flip as surely he has an overcard to my Queens. I feel he is making a stand and I must push him down. And if I do, I take a very nice chip lead in the tournament.
I call his all in and he tables A8. Nice. Pretty much what I thought. Except he doesn't have the straight draws I thought might have been there. "Dodge an Ace. Dodge an Ace." And the flop comes: Axx. Sprinkle an 8 and another Ace on the river just for good measure and my Queens are rolled over and spanked by the full house. That was the turning point for me as I couldn't quite gain ground afterwards.
Here's where the same 'ol story comes in. I am sitting around 8th with 14 left and an M of about 13. So I am not super short stacked but starting to feel pressure. We are 4 from the bubble, again, the hardest part of my game to play in. An aggressive player raises my BB and I attempt a resteal semi bluff with Ace high. Busted! He calls and I go home 14th. My point here is that the 2 cards I had were irrelevant, the position I was in was. Getting close to the bubble, I tried to steal assuming everyone was going to be super tight.
I just said yesterday that I need to slow down near the bubble and get to the money. My aggressive style will take me to the top 20% of the field, but it is so hard to slow down when I get near the bubble. Of course, if I win that flip against Trip, it would be hard for me to imagine I don't final table this tournament.
Oh well. It was fun getting back into the blogger games. I plan to start playing Mondays and Wednesdays for the remainder of the BBT3. Hope to see you there.
Stay patient (especially near the bubble)...

Congratulations to Emptyman for taking down the Mookie. I felt I was card dead all night. I pushed chips back and forth early on, mostly with bluffs or semi-bluffs. People started calling me or re-raising me too frequently, so I decided to switch to a ROCK and then went for what seemed like forever without anything. The highest pocket pair I remember was 88. I raised it, and someone re-raised me all in. I folded and instead decided to push all in a few orbits later with A9sooooooted. Ooops. I got a caller and that was enough to know I was beat.
I played terrible last night in every game I was in. I played the Tier II token Frenzy, built up an above average chip stack, then blew it all on a bluff. Caller tanked for a while as he only had me covered by a few hundred chips, and then called my all in with second pair weak kicker. That was enough to eliminate me. I guess I want that call 90% of the time, but that was how I was running last night. He called an all in with 2nd pair 7 kicker! I guess that is what I get for being the idiot -I mean donkey.
I played 6 more SNG's last night to see just how bad I was running (only cashed in 1 of them). Mostly donkey played again. I was feeling very confident in my play up until this week -especially when I dumped all my chips in the MATH to lucko. That turned me around and I haven't been able to get back right since. Come to think of it, that was the exact moment things went sour. I was easily going to cash and I shoved two hands in a row to exit the tournament on the bubble. My head is still spinning from that. What a stupid move on my part. Of course, alcohol has been involved this week. I tend to make smarter moves when we are out of beer at home. I mean, my SNG winnings graph looks like a seismograph during a 6.0 earthquake. It's pathetic.
I need to take a break, read a book or two, and then come back refreshed. Unfortunately, we have two more BBT2 tourneys to play and then the TOC and Leaderboard Freeroll next week. Oh well. Maybe I can figure it out before next week. I do know that everyone expects me to be dead money in those two tournaments next week. Maybe I can prove someone wrong.

At this point, Lucko starts ragging on me for a terrible play. Donkey move. Blah, blah, blah. Thank you Snakster for sticking up for me, but the damage is done. Lucko puts me on tilt. I should have just stopped right there and regrouped, but I am tilting hard as several observers are also critical of my play.
The very next hand (or close to it), I am dealt AJsooooooooted. I raise from UTG. Everyone folds to the SB who raises and then the BB re-raises all in. I had both players covered but decided to fold as I would have risked almost half my stack on AJ. I don't remember the first raisers cards but Twoblackaces had KK. A on the flop and I would have won, but Twoblackaces takes it with KK. I could have taken two players out. I am cursing for folding AJ, and Lucko already has me tilted. AAAAAAAAAAAArgggggghhhhhhhh.
MY BAD.
Now I am on SUPERtilt.
I watch this happen:
THE MIGHTY AJ!
Then I lose a big hand here. I should have learned right here.
So I push all in here preflop to push back on lucko's raise. He double ups on me. Did I mention I'm on SUPERTILT?
The very next hand I get the NUTZ: AJ
I went from 2nd with 7 players left to out 6th in just a few hands. No patience. No FAWKING patience. Goes against everything I always tell everyone else. Stay patient! Go ask Schaubs. AJ is a crap hand....
Great job to LJ for making it Heads up but she couldn't finish out against twoblackaces. Both are great players. Congrats to twoblackaces for getting into the TOC.
So I figured I should go tilt off some more chips before going to bed:
This hand was the final hand for me in a 9 player SNG when we both went all in preflop....
Then I play an 18 player : top 6 get paid. All in pre-flop.
Not my favorite night. I did win a $26 token. Finished down overall for the night on my bankroll. But I did get me some points for the MATH finish. How 'bout that RecessRampage?
Stay patient... And if you see me at the tables, remind me to STAY PATIENT!

First of all, congratulations to SnailTrax . Finished 2nd in last weeks MATH, but followed it up this week with a 1st place win! WTG! That is impressive.
Sitting around tonight after my donk out of the MATH, playing some cash games and having a few beers with Hawkette. I love hanging out with my wife. jamyhawk bets $4<--ok, so I have have been pushing and if I don't bet here, it looks fishy. Plus, I want to know if there is an A10 out there.
akdauie calls $4<--draw call. Probably on A5.
Rostamthegreat folds
Furon raises to $8<--Really? A10 has to raise higher here. Could be K10. My read is a draw hand trying to push me out of a pair.
jamyhawk calls $4
akdauie calls $4<--This is scary too.
*** TURN *** [Th 3c 4s] [9h]
Furon bets $11, and is all in<--nothing yells strength here. Maybe a weak pair or a draw still.
jamyhawk calls $11<--Have to call.
akdauie has 15 seconds left to act
akdauie folds
Furon shows [7s Td]<--wow! no draw. Did not figure that.
jamyhawk shows [Qc Tc]
*** RIVER *** [Th 3c 4s 9h] [Js]
Furon shows a pair of Tens
jamyhawk shows a pair of Tens
jamyhawk wins the pot ($47.50) with a pair of Tens<--was kind of surprised to see a 107 call at this level, but I guess that is why I should move up to the next level and start playing there. I am not real proud of playing a QTsoooooted, but I had a read and it worked out.
Stay patient.....

Monday night Foolball
All in pre-flop. I have 1/3 the stack as emptyman. So he calls for 1/3 of his stack and says: "had to. getting 2:1 on my money." Personally, I don't make that call. But hey, I am trying to become the KOSO (King of the Suck Outs). It seems that the suckouts have been ruling lately. Would you have called off 1/3 of your stack for K7sooted? I was a 62% favorite pre-flop.

My Broncos are doing well right now... But still time for them to give it up. I actually think they can hold off the Titans this time.
But I have to say: THE WORST ANNOUNCERS IN THE HISTORY OF MNF! Hands down. Never anyone worse. And that is a big compliment to Joe Theisman. He was pretty bad. I had to
actually turn down the sound for a while tonight. Couldn't take another Tony Kornheiser story interrupted 5 times - "I'm gonna finish this story now". Ughhhh. They are YOU-GEE-ELL-WHY!
Hope you are winning. Stay patient....

Moving to Bodog
It's Monday night so tonight is the MATH (or FMATSH). Come play as we go 6max turbo. Super shove fest and I love it!
Tournament: Mondays at the Hoy
When: Every Monday. 10pm ET
Game: 6max turbo
Buyin: $24+2
Password: hammer
Now a few different things:
First, Go Check this Chica out! She cashed in FTPOS event #15. 2600+ players and she finished 24th. Very impressive.
Second, congratulations to VinNay for winning the Big Game last night and a TOC seat. Check out jeciimd, who finished 2nd. Jeci took 1st in the last Big Game and now comes back with a 2nd place finish. Another impressive run. And special kudos to my buddy TheCloserX5 who bubbled but managed to make the final table. Look out for him. He is dead set on getting into the TOC.
Third, I missed the Big Game as I had a football banquet to attend. If you followed the Friday Night Lights posts I did, you will know that attending the banquet was sure to be full of drama for me. Well, it wasn't really. The coach did make a comment on the starting running back "could never get a run for over 10 yards" that made everyone go "oooooohhhhhh". So why is he starting again? . . . Cal got All Conference Honorable Mention for Kickoff/Punt returns. Funny thing was, he had 5 Kickoff returns all year and NO punt returns. He took 2 of the 5 returns for TD's. Hopefully the coach will let him run back kickoffs next year.
Fourth, Here is the response I got from FTP about getting rakeback. I sent them 4 different e-mails over 2 months and they finally responded to the last one:
So, I have opened an account at Bodog. Smokkee has been promoting them hard so I am going to give it a try. I want to get rakeback for the ring games I am playing, especially if I start moving up to higher limits (which I am thinking about doing). I loaded in Friday night VERY easily. Simple Visa Check Card transaction and they auto loaded 10% bonus in (no playing to earn the bonus).
So far, the tables have been extremely loose. Lots of pots with most or everyone limping. Some of the tables were showing 77% of the players seeing a flop. Unfortunately, I dropped a buy in when I was holding QQ and saw a raggy flop. I jam hoping for the usual call from a small pair with crap kicker, but instead run into AA. It is not unusual to see people calling to the river with draws or top pair any kicker. You have to be careful in those situations also. Play a top pair top kicker and you can get rivered very easily at these tables. I plan to write more about my play there. I don't know the software very well (as I am used to Pokerstars and FTP only) so I haven't figured out hand histories and screen shots, and I haven't reloaded Pokertracker from my dead laptop. Hope to soon.
Hope everyone starts doing good at the tables. Seems most bloggers have been writing about bad beats lately (except these hot runners: Kajagugu, jeciimd, XxMagiciaNxX, and Astin -or at least they have been hot in the blogger tourneys).
Stay patient....

Thank you Thank you
Thanks to everyone for the congrats on the MATH win. Everyone was quite nice on my blog. I noticed (as I expected) a lot of people were not happy about the turbo format. I actually think it is good for playing aggressive. You have to get a good run of cards -but you have to do that in a normal tournament too. With people in a push or fold mode, I think you can steal more pots, and win more races -since the AJ is a mighty mighty hand in the turbo format (or so people think).
In either case I enjoyed it.
This win really helped my points on the leaderboard. Gotta love them points, right Alan? I finished in the points in 3 of the first 3 tournaments and then didn't get back until this MATH win. With almost half the BBT2 tournaments over, I am in 2nd in overall points.
How about Kajagugu? 8 tournaments played and 4 times in the money. Not just points, but in the MONEY! Oh yeah, AND each money win was at a final table. Now I know someone can get lucky but 50% of the time at the final table is impressive! And he parlayed one of those final tables into a win. Right now, Kaja is almost 100 points ahead of me and Astin (2nd and 3rd). Congrats to Kaja for playing hot at the right time.
Don't forget the MOOKIE tonight.
*Can Kaja hit a 5th final table?
*Will he remain the leader through tomorrow night and win a seat to the FTOPS Main Event? *Will RaisingCayne finally bust his cherry and get some points in his 9th BBT2 tourney played? *Can Astin and/or Drizztdj become the first player(s) to finish in the points for a 6th time (out of only 12 total tournaments)?
*Can jamyhawk prove that Monday's MATH win wasn't 100% luck and finish strong in a non-turbo tournament?
SO MUCH DRAMA IN THE BBT2, TUNE IN TONIGHT TO SEE.....
Gotta love it.

MATH WIN!
First of all. Thanks to Hoy for hosting and more importantly, for his post from this weekend. See my post below to see how I planned to not play the MATH tonight, but decided to after reading Hoy's post.
Anyway, this tournament is perfect for me as I tend to either do well in turbo's or go out early. No hanging around until the middle and then donkin' out like usual MTT's. I don't remember a lot of hands from early on but I do know I sucked out more than once. Maybe 3 times. And, some of my key races held up. Don't get me wrong, I was super short stacked a few times, but managed to chip back up.
In a turbo tournament, a lot of times you are just trying to amass chips by stealing blinds. And you see the blind stealing with all in's , not just 3 or 4xBB raises. I think we went from the 50% field to 20% in a half hour time frame.
I work with a friend (thecloserx5) that says to win a tournament you have to suck out 5 times, and then you have to win several races. Well, I surely sucked out 5 times. But hopefully not much more than that.
Here is the final table. A lot of really good players. I start off hoping to make around 4th. LJ, Mookie, Kaja, Evy and Tripjax are all good players that I see all the time late in tourneys. And obviously, the other players are here, so aren't too shabby.

Here is a key hand winning a race.

I hit several key hands, sucked out, won races and then sometimes just tried to bully the blinds. It all worked out and we were heads up. I was ready to easily take this down. But SnailTrax had other ideas. We were about even when this hand came:
So I start pushing and he is folding, waiting for the right hand to call with. I am well ahead when he finally calls one of my pushes:

Even more impressive for me were all the great players in the top 14. Well, I'm sure it will be discounted since it was turbo. But I had fun. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! I'm pumped to be in the TOC! See you there Suckazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

The very next hand I am dealt JJ. I just went all in from the button and now I am going to jam again? I thought about raising only, but this is a turbo tournament and everyone has had "shove-itis", so I push and get a call. No such luck and I give back half of the chips I just got with 88.

It is so late now and I was going to skip tonight's MATH so I could get some sleep. But I am trying to calm down. I didn't drink while playing tonight so having a couple of beers while writing this and then will head to bed. BTW, I am so freakin' happy I don't have to write my way in. I was dreading that but figured I would give it a try. Believe me, I would not have won. Too many other good entries out there already....
I'll be pasting in links to everyone in the morning sometime. Thanks to Riggstad and theCloserx5 for railing me. Geeeeez, you'd think I just won my first blogger tourney. Well, it is my first MATH win.

Stay patient....
I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaackkk!
Just a quick reflection so far on the BBT2 (or BBTwo or BBToo -I'm not really sure). I started off strong hitting the points (top 25%) in all 3 of the first 3 tournaments and final tabling 1 of them. I was really feeling that I was starting to hit my game and will be taking down one of the TOC seats without doubt.
Then I missed making the points in the next 5 tournaments played. Frustration set in. I couldn't seem to hit a flop and when I did, it seemed someone hit it harder. My aggressive style was being used against me and I stopped re-stealing. I started laying down races and figured I'd wait for the nuts to go all in. I was just all around playing "scared" poker. Scared of losing. Scared of playing.
Well thank you Hoy. This post of his reminded me that I am capable of taking one of the TOC seats. I need to get back to playing to win. Sure, I may go out early with AK, but that is better than bleeding off all my chips with AK, AQ and KK when I am folding to raises on a missed flop. Aggression pays in the Blogger Tournaments. Just ask Waffles. Ask Lucko. Ask Miamidon.
Come on out and play. And tonight, for special treat, Hoy has dialed up a "turbo" tournament. Should be fun. Hope to see you there.

How I got "Hi"Jacked
The 8th BBT2 tournament was tonight and I hated JJ. ..
I chipped up early with a slow played AA. Risky, but paid off. Put me in 3 rd place with less than 60 players left. Then I hit QQ and went all in. Alan played me brilliantly by calling with JJ. J on the turn and he is a genius. Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh, Charlie Brown!
Then I went all in with JJ and Kaja decided to fold. Woo Hoo! Maybe JJ not so bad....
A few hands later, I went all in again with JJ and this time Kaja called me with Ax. One of the 14 Aces hits and IGHN. GG all . . .
I made a comment that I threw up after losing with QQ to Alan's JJ. Kaja suggested I rename my blog "How to throw up after JJ". I LMAO.
Congratulations to Kaja for taking down the title. At least he put my chips to good use. Click over to him and congratulate him yourself...
